Afternoon of Day 2
Yes, its true that Bobby Sanguinetti’s leg gave out and he collapsed at the end of his laps. What’s important here though is that he felt it early on, and just kept going until he finished. He had fallen a few laps before, but he pushed through to the end. Shows character and that’s part of what the Rangers are looking for.
Some other notes on this afternoon’s two groups. In the first group, Andres Ambuhl, who is not very big, is in good condition. Paul Crowder just seemed to skate the tests with ease. Ilkka Heikkinen is an excellent skater, who has one of the smoothest strides on the team. At 24, he has a man’s body, and has years of professional experience in Europe. He looks mature and appears so on the ice. He revealed that he regularly quarterbacked the powerplay in Finland last season, and he looks to be a powerful contender for the same spot with the Rangers this Fall.
In the last group to skate, which had the most regular roster players, Chris Drury and Trevor Glass did very well. Dale Weise has a more choppy skating style, but he is very fit, and has incredible tenacity.
A goalie story later in the evening. Until then…

“Chris Chappell, Craig Cunningham, Luke Pither, Luke Walker, Mike Berube, Tysen Dowzak, Mitch Gaulton, and Daniel Maggio are not here.”
Where are they in Hartford camp? Wasn’t the leading scorer?
The juniors were sent back to their CHL teams. The rest will be in attendance when the Hartford camp starts next week.
